What 396 Hz is

396 Hz is the first of the original six Solfeggio tones, and DIVINE Sound calls it Liberation. Tradition gives it one of the clearest themes in the set: releasing fear and guilt, the old weights you carry long after the moment that put them there.

People use 396 when they're ready to set something down: a regret they keep replaying, a worry that has outstayed its welcome, a sense of owing more than they can give. Listeners often describe it as grounded and firm, a tone that steadies you enough to loosen your grip on what you no longer need to hold.

Where the number comes from

The Solfeggio frequencies, as a set of numbers, are a modern tradition, popularized in the late twentieth century. Their names echo the medieval hymn to Saint John the Baptist, "Ut queant laxis," whose lines gave singers the syllables ut, re, mi, fa, sol and la. The medieval singers never measured these numbers: the hertz values themselves are modern. 396 carries the first of those syllables, ut, the note later renamed do. Sound healers link it with the root center, and DIVINE Sound pairs it with Saturn and Pluto, the planets of weight, endings and what we finally release.
