What the Throat chakra is

The Throat chakra sits at the throat, where breath becomes sound. Its Sanskrit name, Vishuddha, means something like "especially pure." In the chakra tradition it is the center of voice and expression: saying what is true, being heard, and listening in return. Its tone in modern sound work is 741 Hz, a higher, clearer sound that many listeners describe as clean and open.

Where the number comes from

The chakras come from Indian yogic and tantric traditions, where the body is mapped as a column of centers rising along the spine. In those traditions the Throat is linked with space, the open room in which sound can travel. Pairing each chakra with one of the Solfeggio tones (396, 417, 528, 639, 741, 852 and 963 Hz) is a modern sound-bath practice, not part of the old yogic texts. 741 Hz carries the Solfeggio name Awakening. Listening

Sit comfortably and let the 741 Hz tone play. After a few breaths, hum along with it on a low, easy note that feels natural to you. It doesn't need to match.
